The conference chairs and program committee are pleased to announce this year guest speaker: Dr. Bruce Tromberg, Director of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). Dr. Tromberg will present his vision for the NIH NIBIB program. He will also talk about his pioneering work on diffuse optics and will discuss future opportunities for fNIRS technologies.

Before joining NIH, he was Professor of Biomedical Engineering and of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, and the director of the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic at Irvine.

Dr. Tromberg is a pioneer in biophotonics, and for over 30 years he has contributed to the development and advance of diffuse optical spectroscopy and multi-modal imaging technologies.

To cite a few, Dr. Tromberg has developed new methods for broadband diffuse optical spectroscopy, diffuse optical spectroscopic imaging, spatial frequency domain imaging, and combined second harmonic generation and two-photon excited fluorescence optical tomography.
